Kate Hartshorn
A classic complaint amongst high school students is that they don’t have enough time to do everything they want to. Kate Hartshorn is just like her peers: very busy. The 17 year old senior fills her time with many different activities.

“With the very little free time I have, I do a lot of little bizarre things,” Hartshorn said.

Guitar, ukulele, piano, crocheting, and knitting are just a few of the things Hartshorn has taught herself how to do.

As far as Canfield High School goes, Hartshorn takes part in and even leads multiple activities. She is President of student council and Canfield’s Chamber ensemble. Hartshorn is also co-chairperson of the Rescue Mission for NHS.

Hartshorn spoke fondly of her experience with the rescue mission,”I get to go once a month to the Rescue Mission and serve people who are trying to get their life back together.”

A major influence in Hartshorn’s life is her relationship with God.

She is able to relate this to her work with the Rescue Mission: “We serve them food, we pray over the meal which is really cool because sometimes we get to talk to people about God afterwards.”

Hartshorn’s current relationship with God was one that was founded individually.

“I’ve gotten to know god on a more personal level...he has changed my life,” she said.

Hartshorn’s whole demeanor gets happier when she is talking about her faith. She is able to relate it to many things in her life, even where she is going to college.

Hartshorn plans to attend Wheaton College in the fall and she will continue to allow her faith into every part of her life.
