The Cardinal

Anna Kan
Anna Kan is the definition of a student athlete. She spends all of her time outside of school on the tennis court, calling it her second home.

Kan is heading into senior year at Canfield High School with a 4.3 GPA, as well as being a two time state qualifier, hoping for a third time this year.

Tennis has been an important part of Kan’s life for as long as she can remember.

Kan said, “I started playing when I was really young because my dad and brother played. I would come with them to practice and once I started to get good I kept playing to try to get better and better.”

She is passionate about tennis for not only the competition, but for the memories she has made and the people she has met.

“My sophomore year, I had just won my district match to make it to state, and I got to watch two of my friends win their matches to make it to state too. It was so much fun,” she said.

Kan has also gotten the opportunity to travel across the world to play. Before her junior year she spent a summer in France at a tennis camp.

Kan said, “It was interesting because we weren’t in a touristy spot so we got to see how people really lived in France. It was also really cool because it was a small group of players and we became really close during the trip.”

Kan is very grateful for the experiences tennis has given her and recommends the sport to others.

“As long as you are willing to work for it, you can get good. That is when it gets to be really fun and very rewarding!”
