For some, change can be both frightening and difficult. For Troy Jacobs, change is just another part of life. Ever since he was fourteen weeks old Jacobs’ life has rapidly changed, from moving to a new country to a change in his school’s head wrestling coach. To Jacobs, change is just another part of life.

Jacobs is a hard working and focused sixteen year old junior at Canfield High School, but his story began in Guatemala.

"I was born in Guatemala and was adopted at 14 weeks old" Jacobs said.

When revisiting Guatemala Jacobs pointed out the different culture that is present there, and how differently the lifestyles compare to Guatemala and the United States. Jacobs has adjusted to his new home here in Canfield, with his adopted parents, John and Sherrie, and his dog named Bella. Jacobs has lived in Canfield ever since he was three years old, and said that he enjoys hanging out with friends and playing video games.

Once in high school, Jacobs joined the wrestling team. He has been successful throughout his career, including the high point of his career when he defeated the number 5 ranked wrestler in the state in 2019. For this upcoming season, the entire team experienced a change with a new head coach, Coach Shaw.

“He seems like he really cares about this team and is trying to make everyone ready for the upcoming season, and do the best we can” exclaimed Jacobs. He continued by saying, “Hopefully we can do as good as last year, we did pretty good last year.”

Personally Jacobs is looking forward to the upcoming season with his new coach.
