Katherine Pomponio, Junior Contributor

Katherine Pomponio is a 16-year-old junior at Canfield High School and junior contributor of The Cardinal. Outside of school, she lives an exciting and busy life that consists of traveling, concerts, and dancing.

Katherine has been a dancer for 14 years and competing for the last 12. She dances at Studio 32 which she loves because it has created a positive environment for her to dance and also a wonderful team in which she holds many lifelong friendships. Feeling comfortable in the place she dances at is important to her and benefits her dancing.

Katherine said, "It helps me step out of my comfort zone and build confidence."

More than competing with Studio 32, Katherine has been performing in Miracle on Easy Street since she was in 6th grade.

"It is completely different from what I am used to," she said. "It is a different style of  dance and the energy is so fast paced."

Katherine enjoys the musical theater dancing that comes with this production, along with the iconic dances of winter wonderland and toy soldiers.

Competitive dancing has led Katherine to travel many places for national competition. But along with that, her family enjoys traveling together and over the past summer they visited Ocean City, California, and Hawaii.

Katherine has an older sister, Alexis, which she has loved getting to experience many great things in life with. They danced together, traveled together, but Katherine‚Äôs all time favorite thing to do with Alexis is going to concerts. They have seen Harry Styles many times, Billie Eilish, Louis Tomlinson, and so many more. Katherine shared, "Going to Harry Styles, One Night Only concert was my favorite. The album he performed came out that morning and it was really a once in a lifetime experience."

Katherine appreciates the experiences and people that are in her life. She looks forward to new adventures and traveling, many future concerts, and more dancing with her friends.
