There are many kinds of clubs, activities, and sports at Canfield Highschool as well as some fine arts programs including band and choir. Many students consider these types of things as hobbies in which they regularly do from time to time. Hayden Nottingham is one of these students.

Hayden is a 17 year old junior at Canfield Highschool who is currently in the band and the choir.

“I’m in the Symphonic Band and the Chambers Choir which are the two upper music programs. I also do after school music programs like solo and ensemble every year which is through the band,” the musician noted.

Knowing the music industry was his passion and picturing a future with it he decided it would be his best opportunity to take music related classes all throughout his high school career.

“In the future, I plan to pursue a career in music education so these programs at the high school will definitely benefit me,” exclaimed Hayden.

Hayden's inspiration for his interest in music began at a very young age.

“I’ve always enjoyed music-I remember in like 2nd or 3rd grade I tried to learn guitar with my dad and in 5th grade I joined the band”. Hayden didn’t start his choir career until high school,” In middle school they only allowed one or the other so I chose band and started choir my freshmen year,” he said.

Hayden also admits that the band helps ease his thoughts and offers a distraction from his everyday life.

“You get the satisfaction of playing a song really good and then feel better about yourself afterwards.”

Hayden has many accomplishments with the band including being in the honors band.
