Theater.

That’s the word for junior contributor, Katie Dysert. Theater involves some of her very favorite things to do such as, hanging with friends, laughing, dancing, singing and acting. Although theater does not encompass her whole day, it influences everything she does.

On stage and off, Katie is a hardworking, funny and talented girl. She spends her time doing school work, working, hanging out with her mom and cats, and her favorite, acting. Katie takes the roles she is assigned and applies them to her offstage life. This helps boost her confidence and strengthen her acting roles.

Dysert said, “I feel like I am a different person on stage, because normally I am introverted, but on stage I become super extroverted.”

Katie participates in many different aspects of theater. She is in the Chambers choir, school musicals, as well as musicals at Lisbon playhouse. By participating in theater outside of school, Katie is exposed to a wide variety of people who love theater as much as she does. Through theater, Dysert has found some of her favorite people.

“The people I have met through theater and choir are very important to me. I even met some of my best friends!” exclaimed Katie.

According to the dictionary, theater means, “The activity, or profession of acting in, producing, directing or writing plays. “ Dysert's version of theater differs slightly. For her, theater means friends, family, and a chance to be whoever she wants to be.

Dysert said, “Theater makes me feel good, and like I have accomplished something because you work for weeks to produce something great!”
