The transition from middle school to high school can be intimidating, but Kailey Charnesky faced the challenge with a sense of optimism. Her adventurous drive has gotten her involved in everything from music and art to track and soccer.

High school gave Charnesky the ability to explore new opportunities, including service organizations.

“I wanted to join Leo’s Club and NHS to try something different,” said Charnesky. She especially enjoys volunteering at Angels for Animals.

Charnesky’s involvement in school activities doesn’t stop there. “I also run track and play soccer,” Charnesky said.

Recently, Charnesky’s interests have been geared towards music and art. She was fascinated by guitars and started the bold task of learning how to play.

“I just thought it was cool, and I wanted to learn. I didn’t really know how difficult it was until trying it,” said Charnesky.

Charnesky has also utilized the high school’s various art classes to explore her creative side.

Charnesky said, “I took Art 1 first semester and I really liked it. I want to try taking all of the art classes that I can, maybe do one every year.”

Her favorite project was the ebony pencil drawing. “I did a picture of a younger girl, so it was harder to do. I wanted to push myself to try something harder,” Charnesky said.

Charnesky is even prepared for the challenges her second semester has to offer, such as being the only freshman in her journalism class. Charnesky concludes, “It’s interesting, I’m a little nervous, but I think it’s going to go well.”
