The Cardinal

When Joey Myers isn’t out hunting, playing video games, or hanging out with friends, he is working for a non-profit organization called On Target Outfitters.

On Target specializes in teaching kids how to safely use a bow and arrow and a number of different firearms. They also have a number of different camps from fishing to wilderness survival.

Myers also has a passion for hunting.

When Joey was 16 years old, he traveled to Wyoming for an antelope hunt with other members of On Target. The first day of the hunt Joey shot a buck and brought home food for his family and friends to enjoy.

Along with hunting, Joey adores sports. Though he doesn’t play any, he loves football, baseball, and basketball. Joey’s love for sports started at a young age. He began playing basketball at age 7, but slowly drifted away from playing the sport. He never lost interest in sports though and continues to play the occasional pick-up game.

Joey also spends his T.V. time watching ESPN and the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers every chance he gets. His favorite sport of the three is basketball. His favorite team is the Cleveland Cavaliers, but his favorite player of all time is Vince Carter. Vince Carter never once played for the Cavs, but Joey has adored Carter since he saw Vince play against Lebron James in 2009. Myers said, “I’ve been a fan of Vince Carter ever since. I bought one of his jerseys online and I’m always collecting his sports memorabilia.”

Joey plans on going to college and majoring in telecommunication in sports broadcasting at Youngstown State University. He hopes to be able to make a living reporting and writing for what he loves most; sports.
