The Cardinal

There are many sports at Canfield High School. Basketball, Tennis, Football, Baseball, and Golf are just a few that can be named. To James Dietz, swimming is the most important sport of them all.

Dietz has been swimming since he was just a little kid. He is very passionate about it and has been swimming for all 4 years of high school.

“It is a good exercise and I kind of wanted to look like Michael Phelps when I was little,” said Dietz as to why he started to swim in the first place.

He swims the 50 free and the 100 free.

“My goal for this year is to go to state the in 400 free relay and the 200 free relay. Hopefully this happens,” said Dietz.

Since he has been swimming for so long he has made a lot of really good friends. He says that he hopes the friendships he has made through these years will last for a really long time. Aside from swimming, he also has other important things in his life. He has a 3 year old cat that he loves very much. He also has a brother that swims as well. Before swim season starts, the whole team goes and lifts. He says it is challenging but beneficial.
