Emilia Aey
The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, The Boston Ballet,  The American Ballet Theatre, and BalletMet are just some of the professional ballet companies Emilia has studied with throughout the years. Dance has always been a part of her life, starting at three years old, and getting her pointe shoes at ten, she was always dancing.

“Ballet has taught me discipline, time management, and other rewarding qualities that have helped shaped me into the person I am today.”

Emilia Aey is most likely one of the most flexible people you will ever meet. She enjoys dancing for her home studio, Ballet Western Reserve Company in downtown Youngstown, and practices many styles of dance.

“My favorite style of dance is definitely classical ballet. I also do tap, jazz, conditioning, and modern. Classical ballet is my favorite because it is very specific in the movement, whereas the other styles are less restricted”, Aey said.

She is very determined, and works hard for her accomplishments with many companies.

“Dance is not like other sports, it requires me to be at the studio every night, and every weekend. I sacrifice a lot for dance, like my social life,my amount of sleep, and even sometimes my academic studying,” Aey added.

Most high school students do not have this type of schedule, even the athletes. Emilia works day in and day out for her accomplishments, and is an example that hard work leads to success.

“My biggest inspiration in dance is my older sister, Izzy. Every accomplishment that she made in dance, pushed me to get the same accomplishments. Growing up I wanted to be  just like her, and dance just like her as well,” Aey concluded.

Emilia Aey is a loving daughter, sister, friend, world traveler, and ballerina. She knows how to be the light of any place, whether it is a room, country, or stage.
