For Junior Brent Herrman, not everything has come easy, juggling school and sports, although one thing has.

Baseball.

“There’s a deep passion in my heart for the sport.”

It all started for Brent at a young age.

“Since as long as I can remember, I’ve loved the game of baseball. Ever since I was given my first baseball and threw my first pitch, I knew I was going to love the game for the rest of my life,” Herrman said.

Herrman played last season on the JV team for Canfield as a left-handed pitcher but will be returning this spring as a varsity player.

Last season the team had an overall record of 18-9-1.

“We had a good run last year but came up short. Hopefully this upcoming season we can improve and make a further playoff run.”

Herrman, as well as many others, are going to have to step up this season and take on bigger roles.

“With the 2018 senior class leaving and the loss of many leaders, players are going to have to step up and fill those missing holes, including myself.”

Not only does Brent keep his focus on training in the off season, but also on maintaining his key role in another sport for Canfield, basketball.

“Right when the basketball season is over I immediately start training for baseball. There’s never a time in baseball off-season when I’m not doing something.”

Herrman plays summer ball for the travel team, Ohio Elite.

“I enjoy getting to play with a different group of guys, most of them being my friends from other schools. When we all come together on the field it’s magical.”

Herrman encourages everyone that can to come out and show support for the baseball team this upcoming season.

“We’re gonna have a new team with new leaders and a lot to prove, but we’re ready for whatever obstacles that come our way,” he concluded.
