Cardio, flexibility, endurance, weight lifting, yoga, etc… are all different types of exercises. Exercising and physical activity is a good way to stay in shape and to be healthy. There are some people who enjoy working out a lot, and some people who don’t. It depends on the type of person you are.

Alana Marzich, a senior at Canfield High School, is one of those people who enjoys working out.

“I enjoy working out mostly because I played sports all my life even though I recently stopped, I still continue to work out and try my best to stay in shape,” said Marzich.

She played softball, tennis, track, dance, and soccer. Softball was the sport she played and enjoyed the most, but stopped playing because she didn’t get the position she wanted.

Marzich said, “I really enjoyed softball, but I wasn’t satisfied with my position so I decided to quit. I think of myself to be very athletic, so when I stopped I felt weak.”

Marzich started taking classes with her mom on working out so she wouldn’t feel as weak.

“Once I started taking classes with my mom, I decided to sign up for weightlifting at school. I figured it would teach me how to lift and it was a different way of working out, plus I was able to get my gym credits out of the way,” she said.

She had been upset that she felt like she had to quit softball, especially for someone like her being active all her life and suddenly stopped. She had hoped she would find a way to be active again and not feel weak without playing any sports.

“Quitting softball was difficult, but once I started taking different classes, I was able to get back up on my feet again and not feel as weak. I decided to join Planet Fitness and I have been there for a year now, and I don’t feel as weak anymore,” she concluded.
