The best side to almost any food is french fries. They’re classic, delicious, and pair well with practically any meal. However, there are fries that are much better than others. I decided to taste test fries from 5 fast food places near me to determine the best. This is my official ranking.

  1. Raising Cane’s

Raising Cane’s was all the hype recently. However, the fries were not the reason why.

They are poorly seasoned, and honestly taste like frozen fries out of a bag. They are consistently soggy, and overall just have a bland taste.

The sauce improves them, but that was not included in the test. However, they are still fries, and almost all fries are at least decent. Therefor, my final rating is 4/10.

  1. Wendy’s

Next, we have Wendy’s. Wendy’s fries are the definition of average.

They are pretty well seasoned and use sea salt which separates them from the competition. They also have a nice balance between crispy and soft.

The biggest knock on them is that they are pretty bland. If you are the kind of person who likes plain fries with your fast food, these are the fries for you. But if you want a nice unique flavor in your fries, you aren’t gonna find it at Wendy’s.

Even though I have them at 4 on my list, they are still a solid fry and receive a 5/10 rating.

  1. Arby’s

Personally, I like Arby’s fries.

They have a nice flavor that isn’t common in fast food fries. They also have a nice blend of spices that I personally think tastes good.

However, I won’t ignore the fact that these fries aren’t for everyone. They don’t have a consistent texture, as you may find some fries that are so soft they seem almost raw, and others are burnt to a crisp.

Again, I think they are good fries. However, to be as fair as I can in this test I will take everything into account and give these fries a 7/10.

  1. McDonald’s

McDonald’s fries are an all-time classic, and that’s for a good reason.

Even though they aren’t necessarily crispy compared to some others on this list, they have a great softness. They aren’t soggy, which is what you usually think of when you think of soft fries.

These fries are also greatly seasoned with salt, which makes you just want to continuously keep eating. These fries go great with any meal/sauce that McDonald’s offers. They also are the kind of fries that you want to eat many at a time.

There are sometimes some crispy bits at the bottom and if that’s not your thing, then avoid those. But for the average American, these fries have a great taste that is simply nostalgic and delicious.

These fries come in at number two on my list, with a rating on 9/10.

  1. Chick-Fil-A

These fries are something special. These are the only waffle fries on the list and the only available fries around me that have this fantastic shape., which obviously gives them a big boost.

They are greatly seasoned and their honesty is not much I can say negative about these fries. These salty fries go great with the nice, sweet chicken that Chick-Fil-A has to offer. They are overall the best fry at any fast food place.

I honestly don’t have much to say about these fries besides the fact that they are just phenomenal. I don’t like to give 10/10 on most things, but these get a 10/10.

There’s not much bad that can be said about fries in general. Like previously mentioned, all fries are great. But there are different levels of great. And Chick-Fil-A fries are on their own level of great. If you want to have an A+ experience, head to Chick-Fil-A and thank me later.
