David Crawford, an 18 year old high school senior, has officially committed to University of Pittsburgh for wrestling. As this news flooded social media, we decided to sit down with David to hear his thoughts and feelings towards his accomplishments thus far.

There have been many colleges watching and recruiting David since he was officially the new State champion of Canfield high school. How could he ever choose the right place for him?

Crawford said, “I knew Pitt was the right place for me because it has great coaches that just came to the school this year. The academics are considered number one in the northeast. They have the number one life skills program in the country and it helps develop people into the world. Also I love the location right in downtown Pittsburgh.”

Crawford has grown to be very well rounded in and out of the classroom, as well as on and off the mat. Crawford maintains a 3.89 GPA, plays football during the fall season, and is a member of the National Honors society. As stated above, along with his many accomplishments in his high school career, he considers winning state champion for wresting his greatest.

“My greatest accomplishment was winning a state championship title. I also won two state runner ups as a team and was a three time state placer” Crawford sai.

Although we already know winning this state title is a hard job to achieve, Crawford explained winning in Ohio adds a little extra challenge, “It was really hard because Ohio is the second best wrestling state in the country so all the opponents are really good. This made it feel even more special though because it was hard and my goal since I was seven.”

After all of this is said and done, for Crawford, Pitt is it.
