A new Panera Bread opened on September 18 on 7121 South Avenue in Boardman. The café shut down in the Boardman Plaza and moved to a bigger location in hopes to attract new business.

The new Panera upgraded their design and added a drive-thru. Panera also includes more parking space and a patio for seating their customers. The restaurant successfully attracted large crowds of customers on its opening day as expected, but put in an area with a lot of competition that may not last very long.

Panera offered the first 500 dine-in customers after 10 a.m. to receive a free Panera travel mug and two weeks of free coffee refills with any purchase. The first 500 drive-thru customers received a $5 gift card with the purchase of a You-Pick-Two and a Panera cell phone car mount. Sure this is all great for promotion but how long will it really last, I say not too long especially being around the only Chic-fil-a nearby and also with Raising Cane’s coming soon Panera might lose the business as quick as it came.
