Looking for a luxurious family vacation spot? Hawaii might just be the place for you!

Over Christmas break, while we were all cold and  snowed in, Canfield seniors Lara Quirk and Ally Sammarco got a taste of the Hawaiian lifestyle.

Quirk was on vacation and Sammarco was visiting family, and both had an extraordinary time. They got to do things like scuba dive, zipline, and swim with animals of the sea.

The girls said it was nice to get away from home and all the cold weather we have in Canfield.

They never felt bored because of all the adventurous things they got to do, also because of all the new beaches and sea animals their eyes were opened up to.

Sammarco said, “the people were different, the way they live is just so carefree and everyone expresses themselves exactly how they want to” it’s a different culture. Quirk agreed, saying that everyone was very welcoming.

They both appreciated the beauty of the land.

Sammarco said that there were no plastic bags on the island and she thought that was very strange, and Lara said it was interesting that you are not allowed to bring fruits home or away from Hawaii. Obviously, some things are different there, but they loved learning the ropes of a culture they’d never seen before.

Everyone has a favorite memory from vacation and Lara and Ally had some very cool ones to share.

Lara’s favorite part was scuba diving because she got to swim through caves where she saw sharks and turtles. She also met new people that just so happened to be locals, and got to check out all of their hidden hangout spots. Lara even found out that Fergie was staying in the hotel next to hers.

Sammarco’s favorite part was spending time with her family; and seeing whales, dolphins and manta rays while snorkeling.

The girls got to see some interesting things while they were there. They got to see green, black, and red sand beaches, bamboo forests, volcanos, lava tubes, rainbows, and underground caves and swimming pools. Both girls got to go exploring in nature and loved the trees, flowers, and animals they got to see. Most importantly, the Hawaiian Luau’s at night lived up to their expectations.

Both girls said the flight was long, almost 11 hours, and the time change set them back a little, but it was definitely worth it.
